PAST & FUTURE IMPACT
Since 2008, we have inspired and educated over 7,200 adult tour participants and 3,400 students at 23 schools in the Bay Area. Since 2020, BAGT Lens, a collective of videographers and editors, has produced numerous high quality short documentaries, virtual tours, and promotional videos to highlight change makers and local solutions to the climate crisis. Whether through in-person or virtual programming, BAGT has inspired countless individuals to implement environmentally conscious changes in their communities, schools, or businesses. BAGT has helped to bridge the gap between sustainable farmers and the public, showing people where their food comes from, who produces it, and how farming can be done sustainably. BAGT has consistently worked with underserved communities and students, as well as BIPOC-led organizations, to improve diversity and equity in environmental activism.
“Bay Area Green Tours provides an insider's look into what makes sustainable companies and farms work. I learn so much each time I go on a tour. I had the opportunity to talk with the designers, architects, managers and employees to broaden my understanding of what makes the Bay Area the leader in everything green and sustainable” - Robert Graham, BAGT Tour Attendee

“Your tour has made a lasting impression on not just me, but my family, and my peers, as I shared my experience with them around food waste, social impact, and being more locally connected with our earth and our food. The education spirals inward and back outward!”

"Bay Area Green Tours provides an insider's peek into our region's hotbed of experiments in sustainability. They'll leave you excited for the future and committed to playing a role in the revolution!”
- Amy Kiser, Former Program Director, Ecology Center, Berkeley, CA |
"Our Sharing Cities Tour was really inspiring. I thought I was pretty knowledgeable, but I learned a lot on this cutting edge tour. Bay Area Green Tours is teaching us all a new eco-literacy, a new vocabulary, a whole new way of being in the world.”- Jeff Ritterman, Retired Cardiologist, Richmond City Council Member

“I’m currently a third year architecture major here at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, and I remember going on my first tour with Bay Area Green Tours my junior year of high school. I really like art and math, and at that point I liked sustainability and understood how it worked a little bit. And, so here I am four years later at Cal Poly learning about architecture, learning about wind tunnels and sustainability in terms of water harvesting and material conservation. A lot of that is thanks to Bay Area Green Tours.” – Ben Johnson, a student who attended our tours, now a Cal Poly graduate
INTERN PROGRAM
Our youth is our future. We individually tailor internships and volunteer opportunities for people to give them the knowledge and experience to seek out and get hired (like Shivanni below!) in their preferred careers.
Additionally, an impressive ~25% of past BAGT interns have moved on to pursue an education or career related to sustainability, which is over 10 times higher than the 2.4% industry average! (Source: 2010 Bureau of Labor Statistics)

“I definitely credit my choice of major and my current interest to my time at Bay Area Green Tours because I realized the importance of working towards meaningful impact through my internship. My time at Bay Area Green Tours was extremely, extremely valuable to me, not only for my college application and college acceptance, but in general with building skills that I still use today and can still put on applications for internships.” - Aneri, 2017 and 2019 BAGT intern
Meet BAGT Intern, Shivanni! Her journey with BAGT began in January of 2020 as a Development intern. She learned how to write grants, create proposals, prepare budgets and assist with program management. Building on these opportunities, Shivanni landed her first job as a Development and Grants Assistant with one of BAGT’s partners, Outdoor Afro. Her experience is one of many success stories that your support will continue to make possible.
“I worked with mentors who were very encouraging and personable. They gave me feedback and were there to support me whenever and however I needed. I learned about the operational side of grassroots organizations, and my writing skills have definitely improved. I also feel confident about presenting new ideas that can help our organization flourish.” - Shivanni, 2020 BAGT Intern
