The conversation will cover:
- How biodynamics is different from other forms of agriculture.

- How spirituality can shape our interactions with the natural world and the food we grow.
About Willow Summer
Willow Summer grew up in West Sonoma County, where her love of farming began by gardening with her dad. In 2000, Willow founded City Slicker Farms, a non-profit, urban farming project, in order to increase access to fresh produce for low-income residents in her West Oakland neighborhood. One of her greatest loves was educating youth through a year-long, live-in apprenticeship program on the farm.
After leaving City Slicker Farms in 2008, Willow started a small weekly subscription CSA in Berkeley, taught urban gardening, and consulted with various groups to implement urban farming strategies. She partnered with Slow Food USA on the design and installation of the San Francisco Victory Garden at San Francisco City Hall, and designed an urban farm at the Treasure Island Job Corps Center, a job-training program of the U.S. Department of Labor.
In 2011, Willow received her teaching credential in Waldorf Education at the Bay Area Center for Waldorf Teacher Training, and in 2012 she completed training in biodynamics with Harald Hoven. From 2013-2016 Willow led an urban farming apprenticeship for young adults at Berkeley’s Urban Adamah Farm.
She is the author of the how-to book The Essential Urban Farmer, co-authored with Novella Carpenter, and the garden teaching guide Growing Sustainable Children co-authored with Ronni Sands.
Willow and her husband Lew currently run Three Springs Community Farm, a biodynamic educational farm providing CSA farm memberships, farm apprenticeships and school group visits on a ranch near Bodega, California.
