West Marin County

Most tourists are content to enjoy the marvelous views of San Francisco Bay from Sausalito at the north end of the Golden Gate Bridge and rarely venture to the wilds of west Marin. Let Bay Area Green Tours connect you with our Farm Tour Manager who intimately know the ranchers and farmers of West Marin to celebrate your next truly special event!

Agriculture is fundamental to what makes West Marin County such an extraordinary place to live, work, and visit.  West Marin is home to 56 registered organic producers farming 20,600 acres. Sustainable, free- range meats and poultry, artisan cheeses, and almost every type of organic fruit and vegetable imaginable are raised here.  Indeed, an area so abundant with fresh organic farms and ranches that the Prince of Wales traveled from England to visit these beautiful destinations.

Spend the night and enjoy the fog-shrouded windswept beauty of Point Reyes National Seashore is virtually the same place at which Sir Francis Drake spent the summer of 1579.  Wild herds of deer and tule elk had long been grazing on the plentiful grasses of the peninsula that became home to the first ranching activity in the area. Oyster farms now nestle along the shores of beautiful Tomales Bay and the Bolinas Lagoon remains home to abundant bird and aquatic life.
