Food Waste Tour

Ever wonder why you never see produce at the store with bruises, bumps and discoloration? That’s because a third of our food does not make it from the farm or factory to our stores or kitchens. When it does it often winds up in the landfill after it leaves our house.

Fact: Ranked as a country, food waste would be the third-largest emitter of greenhouse gases globally,  just behind the United States and China! This means food waste is responsible for roughly 8 percent of all global emissions!

Join us for a unique team building experience and support local organizations that are diverting and up-cycling food waste into new products helping to fight climate change. We’ll follow the food waste trail to learn how ingenious social entrepreneurs are using food that would otherwise end up in the landfill.

Here’s a sample of some of the possible stops we could visit on this eye opening and delicious tour below!

  • A Brewery that shares it’s “spent” grain  that has already served its purpose and is up- cycled grain into ReGrained energy bars
  • Enjoy a meal at a local restaurant that is diverting food waste or perhaps we’ll visit Food Shift Kitchen for a delicious meal completely sourced from recovered food and creating jobs for low income folks.
  • Visit a hotel or grocery store to learn where does all that food waste go?
