Join your fellow permaculturists before the Convergence with a Food Justice Tour featuring urban farms and innovative sustainability projects in the innovative San Francisco East Bay. We’ll address concerns about food access, jobs, policy, and education, and engage with progressive leaders who are strengthening the local foodshed and building a resilient future for their communities. Your day includes behind-the-scene visits to several stops such as:
- Gill Tract Community Farm, an educational urban farm where we’ll focus on land access and sustainable development;
- Urban Tilth’s system of community and school garden projects that teach and employ local residents;
- Planting Justice, a grassroots organization that democratizes access to nutritious food by building edible permaculture gardens and training workers transitioning from prison.
Optional: A bus will be leaving from the North Berkeley BART station at roughly 5 pm to go up to the Solar Living Institute, with a stop for dinner, for an extra cost.
